Origami Sensory Asymmetry Cup – Matte Black

The Sensory Asymmetry Cup comes from Origami’s Sensory line, the cups they build for tasting and competition. The trick is in the rim: one side is thin and the other is noticeably thicker, and where you sip changes what you notice in the coffee.

Sip from the thin side and the coffee lands toward the back of your tongue, which pulls forward acidity, florals, and aroma. Sip from the thick side and it hits the front and middle of your tongue instead, bringing out sweetness, body, and texture. It’s a fun way to explore a single origin – try your favorite from both sides and see which you like better. The outside of the cup follows the uneven rim, so it has a subtle, intentional lopsided look.

The matte black cup hides the color of the coffee completely, so you’re tasting without any visual cues – the same idea behind black cupping glasses at competitions.
